Our plans were FUBAR’d Saturday night, so we decided to give Longhorn Steakhouse a try. We were 15 people.
I called earlier in the day to see if they could accommodate our large group. I was met with a happy, “Of course!” They asked me to call an hour in advance, as they don’t take reservations. There is an online wait list, but there is a four person maximum. When I called, the gal on the phone was bright and helpful, “See you at 5:30,” and I unexpectedly received a confirmation text (Nice).
A little trouble at 5:30 as they ran out of chairs (lol). The table was ready, but we all couldn’t sit. After a brief respite, we ultimately sat down and had a great dinner.
The ambience is-western-cattle-country (whatever that means). Most of the tables are booths for 4 to 6 people. One section of the restaurant has freestanding tables that can accommodate various sized groups.
Being such a large group, I didn’t expect great service; however, I was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was friendly, engaging, and on top of everything.
The menu is basically steaks. There is some chicken and some fish. An ample house salad is included. There are a couple of larger salads, but you won’t be sorry sticking with the house salad.
I had a full rack of ribs with a sweet potato. They were fall off the bone and delicious. The barbecue sauce is fantastic. My spouse ordered the bone-in ribeye, as did many of the other people in our group. Everyone loved their steak and took home a nice chunk of steak for Sunday. There was one order of the porterhouse, and it got rave reviews.
There is an inclusive list of sides to accompany your dinner. Some have an additional cost for ‘premium’ sides,’ but the majority are included.
The premium steaks are ~$40, which includes bread and butter, a house salad and a side. The Bonanza Cabernet is ~$10. ($36 for the bottle). Everyone enjoyed the wine.
Steak, salad, baked potato (or the side of your choice), wine, and bread for the table, all for around $60, including the tip. It’s good food, plenty of it, good service, and at a very reasonable price. It really can’t be beat.
